The main goal of this work is to identify patterns of spatial association in some socio-demographic variables of Cienfuegos. Data from the 2012 population and housing census are considered. To this aim, an Exploratory Analysis of Spatial Data (AEDE), is performed. Association schemes (spatial autocorrelation) and structures in geographic space (spatial heterogeneity) are obtained.
The association patterns of 8 sociodemographic variables were identified for the Cienfuegos province. They are representative of the dependency and old age coefficients, the activity and occupation rates, and the masculinity index. This study show in a more integrated way the heterogeneity in the aging patterns of the population of the province in the reference period. The provided visualization allow to detect the main spatial effects.
