We propose a novel inverted heterostructure of CuO and ZnO based on elongated nanostructures. Its branched configuration improves the carrier transport, reduce the reflection loses and allows the use of a variety of materials and a relaxation on its quality. This research allows the study of the fabrication process of a heterostructure with stable, non-toxic and abundant materials in the Earth’s crust by low cost techniques. The nanostructures will be obtained due to a combination of hydrothermal growth and seed engineering. In this research will be studied the CuO seeding process, the thermal treatment influence and the CuO based structure. The investigation will be conducted using XRD, Raman Spectroscopy, FTIR, SEM and UV-Visible spectroscopy.
